Summer (Winter) Knitting Goals
May 25, 2007
Ali from Skeins her way is running a contest with a chance to win a pattern for her Fitted Tank (as well as the Blue Sky Cotton yarn to complete it for 1st prize). How great is that? OK, so it’s actually winter here, but I like to knit summer things in the winter so they’re ready for me when the sunshine starts up again. All you have to do is post your own summer knitting goals with a link to the contest then go to the contest page at Ali’s blog and leave a comment saying who referred you (me!) and then email her a link to your post. Too easy! So here goes with my …
Summer (Winter) Knitting Goals
1. Cast on and finish knitting the body to my Hourglass Sweater (sleeves already done) and get to wear it before it gets too warm.
2. Master (or at least get used to) knitting with DPNs so I can knit socks, socks and more socks.
3. Decide what to knit with the beautiful Art Yarn that I received in the knitted purse swap and time permitting knit it.
4. Buy a drop spindle and give it a whirl!
There are lots of things I’d love to do, but as I will be studying until my brain explodes for the next 13 weeks it’s probably as much knitting as I have time for. Check out Ali’s goal list … when does she have time to sleep?

Instead of fussing with dpns, may I suggest learning the magic loop technique? I’m knitting my second pair of socks (plus I made 2 pairs of mittens) and I love it. It’s far less fiddley, sleek and simple. I have instructions for doing socks on my blog and if it’s not clear enough, let me know and I’ll offer a few more hints. I taught my daughter and she got it right away.
Thank you very much for the suggestion Evelyn, I’ve heard of the technique before but couldn’t get my head around it. Your instructions are very clear so I think I will take your advice and give it a go. Cheers!
